Pool Servicing and Maintenance
Pool Opening
Springtime has arrived and it's time to open your swimming pool for the summer. So why not
sit back, and let us do all the hard work for you? Cleaning your pool after it's been closed for
six months can be a real hassle. Our pool service engineers will get your pool spic-and-span
in no time, so that all you need to worry about is the normal general pool maintenance that
you're used to. We'll reconnect your circulation/heating equipment, check it over and get it
running. Clean your pool and chemically treat it for you. We'll even dry your winter cover (if it's
sunny), put it away and light your boiler (if you have one).

Pool Closing
Autumn has arrived and it's time to close your swimming pool for the winter. So why not sit
back, and let us do all the hard work for you? We'll clean your pool, drop the water level and
put your winter debris cover on. To prevent frost damage, we'll drain your circulation/heating
equipment and turn it off. Finally, we'll carry out safety checks to ensure all your pool
equipment is left safe and secure for the winter. The chemicals we use will prevent algae from
accumulating for up to six months, leaving you with peace of mind, ensuring your pool water
remains in good condition over the winter months.

Sand Change
At Oyster Pools, we advise you replace the filter sand in your pool's
filter vessel every 3-5 years. Worn out filter sand can cause ineffective
pool filtration, leading to cloudy, poor quality pool water. We offer a full
sand change service for all size filters; we'll remove the old sand, give
your filter a good clean and check the internal components for damage.
The old sand is replaced with our special grade silica sand, providing
effective pool filtration and crystal clear water for a further 3-5 years.

Liner Fitting
On average, if looked after properly, a 30 thou (0.7mm) domestic swimming pool liner should
last 8 to 12 years. After this time, it begins to loose its elasticity and is prone to developing
leaks. Leaks are extremely difficult to find and on a liner older than 5 years, very difficult to
patch without causing further damage.
Oyster Pools offers a full domestic liner replacement service. This includes draining your pool
and removing your old liner. We'll accurately measure your pool so that a tailor-made
replacement liner can be manufactured to suit. Of course, there are many liner patterns and
colours for you to choose from; a full set of liner colour/pattern samples are available to view
at our shop.
Once the liner is manufactured (usually takes 10 working days), we will then be ready to fit it.
We'll thoroughly inspect your pool's floor, walls and liner track. Our service includes 2 hours
labour for patching damaged areas and blemishes. Followed by a thorough clean down to
make sure there are no sharp stones or rough imperfections that could pierce or damage the
liner from underneath.
Additionally, as part of our liner fitting service, we will pressure test your suction and return
lines to ensure there is no damaged pipe work in the ground. We do this because if your liner
has been leaking water, it is possible that the escaping water has washed away supporting
materials from around pipe work in the ground. This can leave pipe work unsupported and
lead to it fracturing. It would certainly be beneficial for us to know this before fitting the liner,
so that any potential problems can be rectified beforehand.
Once we are happy everything's up to scratch, we will then fit the liner using our specialist
vacuum equipment. Liner installation usually takes 1-2 days, depending on the weather
conditions and the size of the pool.
